The Chain of Evacuation

Organic Medical units

Below is a list of medical unit that would be attached to a combat unit and would follow them into battle

Combat Medic unit

The unit Medic, would carry out Immediate First aid to the casualty, usually on the front line and under fire.

Field dressing Station

About a mile from the front line, this unit would apply Splints and dressings, would provide plasma and Morphine as required

Collecting Station

Located nearer to the Regimental command post, would provide further treatment as required.

Clearing station

Located between four and ten miles from the front, this unit would provide treatment for Shock and minor wounds and transport to Field hospitals for casaulties

Mobile Hospitals

These units could be packed and moved quickly to follow battles, they would contain X-ray stations, labs and pharmacies and Wards with nursing Care

Field hospital

Usually located within 30 miles of the clearing station, the wounded should arrive here within 1 hour, here emergency surgery would be performed 

Evacuation hospital

This is where treatment of illnesses and less urgent surgery would be taken care of, patients would be reconditioned and returned to the front

Fixed hospital

This would be a hospital located a safe distance from the front lines, and normally a fixed establishment, or located in a military base, this would be known as a station hospital and would be something that can be used for a long period of time.
